About the Course

Overview


The Business Financials Training Series provides Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors with a foundational understanding of key financial topics that are critical for any self-employment venture, to ensure the VRC can read, review, and analyze financial statement components to promote success.

Course Modules


Module 1: Business Owner Earnings

This module focuses on learning about financial considerations that directly impact the business owner's income. Topics include an understanding of net profit, owner's draw, and salary/wage determinations.


Module 2: Profit and Loss Statements

Wednesday, April 12, 2023
12:00pm - 1:30pm ET


The Profit and Loss Statement is an important indicator of a company's health. This statement summarizes the revenues, costs, and expenses that a business incurs. In this module, Counselors will learn how to interpret and utilize this important document.


Module 3: Cash Flow Statements

Wednesday, April 19, 2023
12:00pm - 1:30pm ET


This module takes an in-depth look at the components of a Cash Flow Statement, which provides a business owner with details about money coming into the business and money going out over a specific time period.


Module 4: Business Financials & Funding

Wednesday, April 26, 2023
12:00pm - 1:30pm ET


Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and other funding sources relyon thorough and accurate business financial statements when making decisions about when and if is a good idea to invest in a small business. This module will examine the important factors and decision points for funding.


Course Credit


Participants can earn 6 CRCs upon course completion and a Certificate of Completion. In order to complete the course successfully, participants must attend the Zoom webinars or view the archives of the six presentations, take each module's pre- and post-assessments, and read the handouts.
